Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need planning permission?
The laws in Scotland are fairly relaxed concerning the building of an outbuilding in your garden. There are obviously issues that would be addressed in regards to your local authority, size of the outbuilding, the size of your garden and if you are in a conservation area. We at Aroha will take care of all that.
What maintenance do I need to do to my new Garden Escape?
As soon as your Garden Escape is built it is ready to use. All external cladding has a lifespan of 25 years and painting the outside is entirely up to the new owners.
Do you come visit my garden before you build?
Yes, as part of our designing and planning process with you, the client, we aim to use our years of building experience and knowledge in guiding you through the process of what can be achieved in creating your own unique garden escape.
Can I build the studio myself?
If you wish for us to design, manufacture and supply to you then this can be arranged with a price to suit.
How insulated and warm are your garden escapes?
Our garden escapes are airtight with thick Structural Insulated Panels on the floor, walls, ceiling and double glazed windows and will provide one of the cosiest rooms on your property with a low u-value to match any new build home.
Extras such as wood burning stoves and decking, do you do that too?
Yes. With trained and qualified tradesman we can supply and install a wood burning stove to add that extra character to your garden room and the decking to give your garden room that final touch.
